Definition: Through digital montage, a photographer can create a painting.

The photographer needs to set up digital archive file folders of the details that could be incorporated in a painting.  Examples of these details include: skies, people, animals, birds, chairs, houses, and flowers.

With computer software (this Mentor uses Photoshop), the photographer can layer these pieces of a puzzle until a final result is achieved.  Along with inspiration, one needs to consider perspective, relative size, shapes, light direction and intensity, shadow depth, etc., to achieve a credible atmosphere to be capable of generating impact and visual appeal.
